Summer Update

I hope you’re still all enjoying a brilliant summer. I rejuvenated and re-charged the senses on a two week break, heading north for the summer, up to our family cabin in the south coast of Norway; nature’s health spa! One stormy day, I crossed the fjord, safe from the waves out in the open sea, over to the next island where Wagner was once forced to stay during a storm. Hidden away in a beautiful location, I discovered a local artist Sidsel Hanum, whose delicate ceramics form organic shapes in the most elegant colours and have been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery and at Flow Gallery, Notting Hill; her husband carved wood on a mammoth scale.

London Uncovered The Story of Lingerie

London Fashion & Textile Museum

I had the urge to visit The Undercover exhibition featurring The Evolution of Underwear at the Fashion & Textile Museum, london last week.

It explores the themes from the boudior "Stars and their Bras" to everday glamour, it is well set out and demonstrates how womens underwear has developed as their roles in soceity have changed.

I love the idea of dressing up a beautiful bra & knicker set; the Alice & Astrid frou frou bolero is wonderful over a cream bra and knicker and works fine as outerwear over jeans.

Our friends top chef and private caterers, Estelle & Vincent have given us a yummy recipe for the best home made cookies

Muscovado cookies - great to prepare with kids and little cookie monsters! - It is important to use muscovado sugar, you may use light or dark muscovado, according to your taste.

For 30 small cookies:

- 200g of flour

- 4g of bicarbonate of soda

- 70g of regular white caster sugar

- 90g of light muscovado sugar

- 110g of butter

- 1 egg

Mix ingredients by hand in a bowl. Form small balls (max 3cm diameter) and place on a baking tray in staggered rows and cook for 10-12 min 180 degrees

Serve cookies on a pretty plate, while still warm. Ideal to share with family and friends with a cup of tea or coco.
